| Nikoli
I Nikoli (si pronuncia "nicolai") sono nati nel 2002 a Leeds
grazie all'ingegno di Tim Hann, e al suo bisogno di trovare uno sbocco
per le sue composizioni. Tim pubblicò il primo EP "Space &
Time" nel 2002 ottenendo buone recensioni, e altrettanto plauso meritò
il secondo EP "You've Come So Far" a inizio 2003.
I Nikoli hanno preso la forma di band con l'arrivo di Chris Maunder (piano
ebasso) e Spence Bayles, (chitarre e basso) verso metà 2003.
La terza release dei Nikoli "Resigned EP" è stata la
prima scritta assieme, con il risultato di creare un maggiore impatto
delle precedenti su tutto il territorio Britannico.
A questa seguì il singolo "Take it & Go / She Asks Me"
pubblicato dall'etichetta della band East Park Records nell’Aprile
2004.
Le registrazioni sono state fatte dalla band nel loro studio di Leeds
e attualmente stanno lavorando alle tracce che comporranno l'album di
debutto previsto per il 2005.
La band si descriverebbe come The Smiths, Spacemen 3, Spiritualized e
i The Beach Boys tutti riuniti per un incontro misterioso di opinioni.

Resigned EP
Terzo E.P. per questo trio albionico facente capo al cantautore Tim Hann,
animo sensibile e poetico, dalla penna delicata e romantica. Uscito in
realtà lo scorso autunno, queste quattro tracce parlano il linguaggio
squisitamente british di band come Smiths, primi Verve e House Of Love,
andando a pescare a piene mani dall'inquietudine lunare di codeste indimenticate
avventure. Nulla di nuovo, ma anche nulla di meramente derivativo, giacché
la title-track, nervosa e sghemba, 'The People', pastorale e lisergica
quanto un acquerello del giovane Aschcroft, "Let Down" , melanconica
e ombrosa, sono solamente canzoni stupende. Da ascoltare a più
riprese, magari in ore serali.

[...] The single edit of 'Take It And Go' starts with a mournful, dramatic
piano, reminiscent of Nick Cave, soon to be joined by and acoustic stance
of Pink Floyd and early Spiritualized on the verse, with plenty of Smithsian
guitars on the chorus and middle eight. The lyrics appear complete, and
very English in their approach, and a sense of quietly drowning is drenched
